CONTRADICTIONS OF PRO-ABORTION/PRO-CHOICE

There are so many contradictions in the debate around the 8th amendment. Here are a few I have been studying... 1. It's not a baby, it's a clump of cells BUT abortion is a traumatic experience for a woman and not entered into lightly...Why? 2. It's not a baby, it's a clump of cells BUT abortion should only be legal up to 12 weeks...Why? 3. Abortion on demand should be legal only up to 12 weeks BUT it should be legal to abort a baby with an alleged "fatal foetal abnormality" at any time...Why? 4. There is agreement with abortion for fatal foetal abnormalities or in cases of rape or incest BUT not for other reasons...Why? 5. "I couldn't have an abortion BUT I believe women should have the choice"...Why? 6. Pro-life supporters are accused of resorting to emotional language by calling the unborn a 'baby' BUT abortion supporters talk about rape, incest, sexual abuse and fatal foetal abnormalities as justification for abortio

TRUTH, FORGIVENESS AND LOVE

Today as I read all the anti-abortion articles on my news feed and look at what I, myself, have posted, there is no doubt that I emphatically stand on the side of not wanting abortion to become available in Ireland. I vehemently oppose those who have reduced childbirth to a problem that is akin to having a 'parasite' feeding on a pregnant woman's body. That school of thought is despicable!! However, I would also like to add that in no way am I forgetting that behind the 'deba te' are real women who have already made the journey to England to have an abortion, knowing that it would end the life of a baby. To those women, who made that decision in the midst of fear, vulnerability, loneliness, massive doubt and a hundred other emotions that have no words, I want to say that, as a Christian, I know that there is forgiveness and restoration for you in Jesus. I truly believe that if you struggle with guilt, regret, despair or depression because of an abortion, Je

Personal Human Rights - Article 40 - Inalienable, Antecedent to and Superior to Positive Law

Personal Human Rights - Article 40 - Inalienable, Antecedent to and Superior to Positive Law  Our human rights are not given to us BY the Constitution. The Constitution merely recognises that they exist and should be defended against attack. These rights are antecedent to and superior to positive law, which means they exist outside of the written law on a higher level than written law. They are inalienable, meaning we cannot give them away. They are ours because we are human beings. The government doesn't give them to us and it should not be able to take them away. Th at's why the founding fathers chose to give the people of Ireland the power to choose what rights we want to remain protected in our State, by our Constitution.  The only way we can lose rights is to give someone else the right to take it away. The government has no business canvassing to remove constitutional rights of unborn babies in this State. The State is charged to defend and protect those right

ANSWERING THE ARGUMENTS OF PRO-REPEAL

ANSWERING THE ARGUMENTS OF THE PRO-REPEAL CAMPAIGN I attended a debate recently on retaining or repealing the 8th Amendment. At this debate certain arguments for repeal were put forward by both the panel and the audience. In this article I want to look at those positions, take them out of the context of the abortion debate, apply exactly the same arguments to our other laws and see how valid they really are. 1. An unborn baby is in the woman's body and therefore she should have complete autonomy over what happens in her own body. Q. If this is true, why then can I not walk into any surgeon and demand that he severs my healthy leg or arm because I do not want it anymore? It is my body. I am making an informed decision. I know that I will have to live with my decision. Why can I not ask for that as part of my own healthcare? A. We do not have complete bodily autonomy anywhere else in law. Even our constitutional right to bodily integrity is restricted by the law especi
